Zhengzhou here come the Global Stars

The Global Stars are going to Zhengzhou.

Zhengzhou is hosting the 2018 airshow at  Shangjie Airport ZHSC on 27th April – 1st May. 

This year emphasis is being placed on the young, the future for aviation. The show will be in two parts, afternoon and evening pyro show. The first such twilight and night air show in China. 

An exciting lineup for the evening pyro airdisplays is planned with the 4 ship Global Stars, famed for the show over the HKMZ bridge, 4 ship Pioneer team, 2 ship Aerosparks. 

The Global Stars are the only 4 ship fully aerobatic pyro team in the UK and possibly the World. As part of the show all 4 team members will perform the pyro pylon run which will be a yet again another first World wide for the team. 

After the evenings air displays have completed pop groups will play the night away. 

In addition to the air show there is the Biennial meeting of “Earth Rounders” Pilots who have flown around the World. This is an amazing group of pilots who have mostly flown single engine aircraft and helicopters with single or two pilot crews around the World. 

The ANBO team lead by Rolandas Paksas, who flew around the World in 2006 in the SM2000. His flight log can be read here. ANBO will be flying a 4 ship YAK 50 formation show. Rolandas is well known for leading his team flying under bridges in Lithuania. 🙂 

Aerosparx fly with Grob 109 aircraft, essentially these are motorised gliders with very long wings. Carrying a large number of different type of fireworks on the wing tips, waterfalls, roman candles and jerbs. 

The Pioneer team from Italy. They have been flying since 2005. Having flown in many countries now there are the most traveled civilian teams in the World I believe. JAPAN, EMIRATES ARAB, KOREA, LIBYA, MALTA, ITALY, GREECE, SPAIN, PORTUGAL, FRANCE, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, BELGIUM, NETHERLANDS, CROATIA, SLOVAKIA, HUNGARY, BULGARIA, POLAND, TURKEY, CHINA

The very popular aerosuperbatics wing walking pair. Pretty girls standing on the top wing whilst the stearman aircraft fly in formation loops and turns. The 450 horse power engines make a big sound ! 

The Yakovlevz will bring six silver painted YAK 50 aircraft. This team is the only privately owned six ship team in the world. Plenty of smoke and noise. The team flew to 5th place in the formation aerobatic championships in 2017. 

Wayne Mansfield of AVIAD will be flying the Husky banner towing and acting as camera ship for Keith Wilson one of UK’s top aviation photographers reporting the event. 

Also from the USA is team VIPER. This show will be another first for China. Jason is bringing his JET CAR to race. The Jet car has a 3000 pound thrust from a jet engine, fitted with afterburner this adds another 4000 pounds of thrust. This car does the 1/4 mile at 290 MPH. Its a competitive drag race. Lots of flames and smoke from this racer, a spectacle not to be missed thats for sure.

Elgin Wells, flies the only aircraft of its kind, home designed, home made covered in 250 LED lights computer controlled for both day and night shows.  Elgin Wells is a career musician and airshow pilot who lives in Peachtree Corners, GA (a suburb of Atlanta). A champion orator* and vocalist** in his school years, he graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Human Learning and Education. Elgin then toured the U.S. and Australia with a variety of rock and show bands, performing over 15,000 shows and sets, including a 12-year stint at Ray’s on the River, in Atlanta.

ASFC will bring their team of paramotors trailing smoke, flags and streamers. Parachutists and local helicopter displays will also be seen.

Zhengzhou Air Show is a large-scale general aviation exhibition on the theme of general aviation exhibition and air show, mainly to convey the concept of general aviation development and to provide a professional exhibition, trading, exchange and experience platform for general aviation manufacturers, operators, service providers, aircraft owners, pilots and enthusiasts and other participants in all aspects of the general aviation industries chain. Under the background of “building a national central city” and “The Belt and Road” strategy, Zhengzhou Air show 2018 will further clarify its position and aim to become Asia’s largest and most diversified general aviation event. Under the guidance of Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government, Shangjie District Party Committee and Government, the exhibition part of the three Zhengzhou Air Shows is becoming mature. For Zhengzhou Air Show 2018, we will plan and deploy the exhibition part more carefully. We will enhance and optimize all aspects of exhibition scale, zoning, exhibitors and exhibits to further improve the professionalization and scale of the exhibition.

1. World Formation Aerobatic Annual Awards Ceremony

At Zhengzhou Air Show 2017, 14 world’s top aerobatic teams from 10 countries, brought spectacular aerobatic displays to the audience, and won the world formation aerobatic awards respectively. The success of the awards ceremony was fully acknowledged by Nick Buckenham, President of the FAI Aerobatics Commission (CIVA) and paved the way for FAI to achieve more and deeper cooperation with China in the future. World Formation Aerobatic Annual Awards Ceremony 2018 will be held continuously in Zhengzhou Air Show. We will invite the world’s most outstanding aerobatic teams to Zhengzhou to present a more thrilling flying feast, and strive to create a global aerobatic flying mecca.

• Central Plains Fly-in Expo 2018

Central Plains Fly-in Expo invites domestic and international aircraft owners and flying enthusiasts to pilot their planes to visit Shangjie airport every year for display and exchange. During the exhibition, we provide various types of flight services, such as local air traffic control and ground handling, aviation fuel supply and related documents, and assist in applying for transfer routes. Central Plains Fly-in Expo 2018 will undertake the annual meeting of Earthrounders. More than 100 pilots from countries all over the world who have flown around the world, aircraft owners and flying enthusiasts both at home and abroad will meet and exchange at Zhengzhou Air Show. More than 10 pilots will fly directly from foreign countries to Shangjie Airport. The worldwide  flying big guns gathering in Zhengzhou Air Show will play an active role in accelerating a coming era of China’s private flying and non-governmental exchanges and cooperation in the field of international aviation.

1. The annual meeting of Earthrounders: Earthrounders brings together a group of pilots with unique accomplishments who have flown around the world. There will be more than 10 pilots flying directly to Shangjie Airport on the occasion.
2. Pilots lecture: Invite civil aviation and aviation sports officials and experts to explain regulations, rules and norms of flight.
3. Flying lecture: Senior military and civil aviation pilots talk about flying skills and their legendary stories.
4. Flight experience: Amateur flying performances; fly to the Yellow River, Songshan and other famous scenic spots in Henan; designated short-haul routes (such as Shangjie – Anyang, Luoyang, Nanyang, etc.) for cruise flights.

• General aviation high-end forums

1. National forum on the development of general aviation industry comprehensive demonstration zone: A professional forum with 200 participants, invites National Development and Reform Commission, 26 local governments with national general aviation industry comprehensive demonstration zones, experts and scholars in the field of general aviation to participate in and have an in-depth discussion from the perspective of policy, industry, technology and market, to fully promote the construction of national general aviation industry comprehensive demonstration zones.
2. “Air Silk Road” aviation forum: An international forum of 200 people invites aviation celebrities from China and foreign countries, especially along the Belt and Road to attend and cooperate with each other for the Belt and Road aviation development plan.
