ePPG first flight in Bahrain

At the Bahrain International Air Show 2018,

History was made when the first ever electric paramotor flew in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Mark Jefferies flew from holding point “Alpha” on the apron. This is at the north end of Sakhir air base.

BIAS has been taking place every 2 years since 2010. This year as in previous years the event continues to grow.

Teams taking place in the air show were :-

Russian Knights flying the SU27.

Italian Frecce Tricolori

UAE Al Fursan

Global Stars

A full list of aircraft will be mentioned in my next blog.

The show takes shape with a morning display centred upon the public show centre and an afternoon for the trade end of the site.

The ePPG was to display for the public in the morning. However only the validation flight could be undertaken due to the strong winds on all show days which was most unfortunate. This also stopped the Bahrain Defence Force for skydiving on all but the opening day.

The electric motor is a Skyjam Lizard with a NOVA Phantom canopy.

The Lizard is the lightest paramotor from Skyjam. It’s carrying a 25AH Lithium Ion battery. This will give approx 25 mins flying. Ideal for a quick hop around the local area in the flat lands or if your in the mountains it can be used as a “sustainer” between areas of lift. An ideal easy to use clean, simple paramotor.
