Abarth Cars UK will be at CarFest South this weekend and I’ll be doing the air display at 13:00 on Saturday and Sunday – straight after the Red Arrows and it promises to be bigger and better than last year (and hoping there won’t be a thunderstorm this year!) as tickets for CarFest South are sold out. If you don’t have a ticket, the organisers kindly ask that you do not attempt to come however, you can watch all the action live on the BBC One Show on Friday 23rd from 7pm or listen to Chris Evans live on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday 24th from 10am.
CarFest South will take place at ex-F1 Champion and now ‘Hampshire farmer’, Jody Scheckter’s Laverstoke Park Farm, from 23rd – 25th August 2013. The Hill Climb looks like it will be more exciting than last year and will feature some of the world’s best cars running up the ‘Hill’ in batches of 7 including BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans’ own Magnificent Seven Ferrari collection along with some absolutely beautiful and rare cars. Cakes v Pies is bigger, featuring categories for children, grown-ups and professionals and there’s a Sports Day, the Vulcan is back, the Arena will feature Jousting as well as a bigger and better display by the Dancing JCB Diggers (not at the same time!). Abarth Cars UK will have a display of cars including the Abarth 500 range and the entertainment rig will have the Top Gear track simulator so be sure to come along and see if you can set the fastest time!
And if all the cars, attractions, stalls, entertainment and food wasn’t enough there is a superb music line-up for everyone including on FRIDAY 23RD: Texas – will be the headlining Friday night at CarFest then on SATURDAY 24TH: Keane – will be headlining Saturday night on the main stage plus Ocean Colour Scene and on SUNDAY 25TH Jools Holland – “The most popular pianist and band leader in the UK” takes to the stage supported by Amy MacDonald and Scouting for Girls… it’s going to be a great weekend for everyone on the ground but I will have other duties at the Little Gransden Air & Car Show on Sunday 25th August supporting the BBC Children in Need Appeal 2013 and local charities, the Little Gransden Air & Car Show will include over four hours of vintage and aerobatic flying displays, a vintage, veteran and classic vehicle rally plus numerous other attractions. We have been running our show since 1992 and have raised over £165,000 for charity over the years. So, for all you aircraft and car enthusiasts who aren’t going to CarFest we hope to see you at Little Gransden – Gates open at 10:00 (car parks open at 08:30), the event concludes at 17:30. Tickets can be bought online or on the gate. Food including a barbecue and ice cream will be available along with refreshments including a bar. There are also plenty of toilets – including disabled toilets – on site. Free parking is provided in a field next to the airfield, just a short walk away. Dogs are welcome if kept under control on a lead at all times, and you clean up any mess. If your dog causes a nuisance you will be ejected from the showground with no refund. Why not stay on after the show ends and come to the hangar party, which kicks off at 19:00?
